Christopher Childs, DMD

Dr. Christopher (Chris) D. Childs always wanted to work in health care because he loves people. He was mentored early on and inspired by some terrific dentists who loved what they did. Dr. Childs graduated from Augusta University (formerly the Medical College of Georgia) in 1995. A Gainesville native, Dr. Childs returned to open his practice with a focus on restorative, implant, and cosmetic dentistry. He is passionate about dental education for patients and loves helping his patients to achieve excellent oral health in a comfortable environment.

Dr. Childs particularly enjoys restorative and implant dentistry. He regularly works on large restorative cases that require multiple disciplines and excels at providing solutions for complex problems. Dr. Childs is also committed to ongoing education and learning. He has completed the core curriculum at the Dawson Center for Dental Excellence (111 hours), IV Conscious Sedation Mini Residency Medical College of Georgia, and Implant Continuum and Live Patient Program (120 hours).

Married to Teresa (his prom date) for 16 years, Dr. Childs has a son, AJ Berry, who is married to Monica, and a daughter, Danielle, married to Matthew Smith. He has two granddaughters, Sophie and Olivia. Dr. Childs is also grateful to have the most loyal dogs on the planet.

When not busy at the dental practice, Dr. Childs enjoys spearfishing, hunting, and golfing. He is also a fan of the University of Georgia Athletics, working out, and going to the gym. He used to be a college soccer player and head women's soccer coach at Truett McConnell, and he is an excellent farm tractor and loader driver. Dr. Childs is also great at making the perfect brisket and loves to barbecue.

Meet the Team

Stefanie

Registered Dental Hygienist
Stefanie joined the practice back in 2004. She was a dental assistant for 7 years prior to becoming a dental hygienist and will be completing her dental local anesthetic certification this winter. She loves her job, and making smiles healthy is her passion. Stefanie knows the practice, the people, and the systems very well.

Stefanie has been married for 27 years to Ryan, her high school sweetheart, and they have three adult sons, Evan (married to Mallory), Eli, and Ellis. She is a hobby baker and has a side gig making decorated sugar cookies. In her free time, Stefanie loves playing pickleball, walking, spending time with friends and family, and attending church.

Melissa

Registered Dental Hygienist
Melissa started her full-time dental hygiene career at Chris Childs, DMD in January 2008. Prior to graduating with a degree in dental hygiene, she worked in a local dental lab and also as a surgical assistant at a well-known oral surgeon’s office. She’s planning to complete her dental local anesthetic certification this winter.

Melissa is married to her high school sweetheart, and they have two daughters, Breelan and Braylee. They enjoy spending their free time watching the girls compete in various sports and attending Galilee Christian Church.

Amanda R.

Office Manager
Amanda has been with the team for 14 years. She began her career as a chairside dental assistant in 2003 and worked as a chairside assistant for 13 years. After that, she transitioned into managing the office operations.

From Cleveland, Georgia, Amanda is married to Galen, and they have three children, Bentley, Bryson, and Brinn. In her spare time, you can find her with her family, dirt late model racing,
and watching football or basketball. She also loves music and loves to sing.

Amanda S.

Front Office Schedule Coordinator
Amanda started her dental assisting career in 2001 and came on board with Dr. Childs and the team in 2015. She worked alongside Dr. Childs as his assistant until 2022, when she made the transition to the business team.

Amanda is blessed to say she married her high school sweetheart, and together they have two beautiful daughters, Savannah and Caroline, and a precious grandson, Liam. In her free time, she enjoys running, going for short hikes with her fur babies, and spending every moment she can with her sweet family.

Madisen

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Madisen joined the practice in 2016 after graduation and has been assisting Dr. Childs ever since. Madisen's passion is taking care of her patients and ensuring they are comfortable while in the office.

Madisen and her husband, Jonathan, live with their daughter, Natalie, in Braselton, Georgia, and they have another baby on the way (due March 2025). In her free time, she enjoys exercising and staying active with her family. Madisen also enjoys reading.

Kara

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Kara has been chairside assisting since 2021 and is well known around the office for being helpful. She says she and Brandyn have the best life with their toddler son, Jedidiah Jacob, and their dog, Rocky. The whole family loves a good adventure like kayaking, hiking, and participating in races. Kara is also excellent at axe throwing and enjoys photography.
