Tooth extractions at Chris Childs Dentistry take a simple approach: minimize discomfort and expedite the healing process. While your parents and grandparents may have horror stories to tell about having an extraction procedure, we pledge to make sure your experience is nothing similar.
We utilize topical and injected anesthetics to numb the area around the tooth. We’ll send you on your way with instructions on eating and drinking (following the extraction) as well as antibiotics (if necessary). While we work hard to make sure you’re okay when you leave our office, we need you to be “part of the team” and take a few measures to ensure all is well:
- Stop smoking
- Brush gently
- Don’t use a straw in your drinks
- Utilize a gentle mouth wash, and swish easily
- Apply a cold compress (outside your mouth) to reduce swelling
- Follow all other orders given by our team
Wisdom Teeth
Since your wisdom teeth are the last to “show up” and enter the back of the mouth, they are often left with little room to grow in. These pesky teeth seem to want to crowd the mouth and push other teeth out of the way. This can cause great pain, lead to serious problems down the line and even lead to an improper bite.
When wisdom teeth rear their ugly head and cause problems, it’s time for them to come out. Infection, swelling and pain are very easy-to-spot symptoms of problematic wisdom teeth. While there is no long-term worry about not having wisdom teeth in your mouth, there is concern about your bite, your ability to eat and your speech that can be harmed.
Don’t live in pain…let us help to extract your wisdom teeth and get you back to living life to the fullest. Contact our office today if you are in pain, have a toothache, or are concerned about your wisdom teeth.
